Animate Fitchburg
Marx and Bensdorf/Tristar riders
Michael Olheiser and Stefan Rothe animated the
Fitcburg Longsjo Classic, a 4 day stage race in
Massachusettes. Mike started the race with
a respectable time trial on day 1. Stefan
Rothe got into a two man break on Friday's 104
road race and scored points for the "Green
Jersey Competition" in the process. Mike
and Stefan lit up the 75 mile circuit race on
Saturday. Mike continually led Stefan out
for the "Green Jersey" point sprints. On
Sunday, Mike went out and racked up primes and
"Green Jersey" points during the 50 mile
citerium on Sunday. After the dust
settled, Mike was in 11th on G.C. and 5th in the
"Green Jersey" competion and Stefan finished 2nd
in the "Green Jersey" competition. Details.

Mike Olheiser Wins 3rd National
Title!!!
Richard Distlerath
Mike Olheiser
displayed dominating power at the Master's
National Championship Road Race in Louisville,
KY. The racing started quickly with
several moves going up the road. Travis
Sherman covered these early moves in the event
one "stuck". This strategy would mean that
the peleton would either have to let the break
go, or tow the two time national champion Mike O
around. Both early moves were brought
back. A group of 6 managed to get up the
road without Mike or Travis. On the
long/gradual finishing hill, Travis strung the
group out with Mike in tow and bridged to the 6
man break-a-way group. Instantly, Mike
attacked. Mike and two other companions
quickly built a one minute lead and never looked
back. Mike's break-a-way companions soon
weakend and Mike put the nail in the coffin and
accelerated away from the duo and eventually put
four minutes on his companions and almost five
minutes on the field! The celebration was
short lived, because Mike and Travis had to get
back to the hotel, pack up bikes and prepare for
a 5 a.m. plane departure to join the rest of the
Marx and Bensdorf/Tristar guys in Fitchburg, MA
for a four day stage race that began the next
day! Stay tuned for
details. |

Marx and Bensdorf/Tristar
Dominates
(June
28-29th)
The Marx and Bensdorf boys
dominated the Marx and
Bensdorf/Smith and Nephew Grand Prix by winning
all three stages and the overall!!!
Saturday began will a flurry of attacks in the
78 mile road race. Sam Silvey escaped with
another rider and held the lead until the last
few hundred meters. Sam managed to outkick
Nathan Brown for a photo finish.
Mike Olheiser
continued his winning ways and made in three
wins in three weeks with a crushing victory in
the four mile time trial.
The team was
well placed going into the final.
Mike and Sam were 1-2. The racing was
aggressive and the attacks never stopped.
Mike O and Clark Butcher escaped the field
during the last quarter of the race. Mike
was able to isolate a rider that was potentially
dangerous to the leader board. Mike
dropped the rider and caught the back end of the
field. Travis upped the pace so that the
rider couldn't tack onto the back. Mike
won the race with Clark Butcher coming in
3rd.
The final
overall results shook out to be Marx and
Bensdorf 1st, 3rd, 6th and 9th!
